REVIEW: I must begin by mentioning that I brought a Chipotle burrito bowl with me to the game. If you’ve been following along with these Press Dining Food reviews, you never know what you’re going to get. I didn’t want to take any chances.
My concerns about a weak press meal were largely erased as the kitchen staff came through with one of their most complete meals to date. The pasta and braised greens complimented the chicken nicely in a subtle but flavorful way. Also, the chicken itself was hefty – this was no minor league chicken bone, but instead, a full piece of meat that could be a meal on its own.
The salad was a tad standard if not basic, but it did its job as a decent side dish. The thing that really made the meal for me though was the dessert. The assorted candy today was on its A-game like an elite closer. The gummy fish, white chocolate pretzels, and whooper-esq crunch balls were firing on all cylinders- combining for something both sweet and sour, with a tease of chocolate.
I should note that the candy gods but have read my last post asking for more whooper-esq crunch balls since I found a total of 4 balls (up from 3) in the bag.
RATING: 9.5/10
Live Game Notes
Top 1st – LHP Tyler Anderson
Kole Calhoun works an 8 pitch at-bat, but ultimately strikes out. Ketel Marte with a good piece of hitting and rips a high pitch (probably a ball if he takes it) to left field for a double. Two ground outs to Craw end the inning.
Score: Giants 0, Diamondbacks 0
Bottom 1st – RHP Zac Gallen
Yaz works a 3-2 count and walks. Dickerson walks on 5 pitches. Solano also walks – Gallen can not find the zone. Belt grounds into a 4-3-6 double play which looked more interesting than it sounds. Longoria strands Dickerson at third and Gallen escapes with only 1 run scored despite having the bases loaded with no outs at one point.
Score: Giants 1, Diamondbacks 0
#RattleOn Zac Gallen has thrown 15 pitches to begin this #ARIvsSF game
3 have been strikes
12 have been balls#SFGiants have walked 3 straight times
Peralta (K), Escobar (F8), Ahmed (P5) all go down.
Bottom 2nd
Flores strikes out but Crawford reaches via a walk. Tromp strikes out. Duggar spanks a double past Walker (an overall great two-out hit) but Yaz strikes out on three pitches.
Marte reaches on a rare Brandon Crawford error. Walker flies out to Yaz in right but it’s not as nearly as cool as his web game from earlier. Marte swipes second. Peralta hits one past the diving Solano and Yaz bumbles the ball, allowing Marte to score from 2nd. Escobar flies out. Ahmed grounds out to end the inning, but it’s a tie game
Score: Giants 1, Diamondbacks 1
Bottom 7th
Crawford walks.
JOEY BART IS PINCH HITTING
Bart lines a double that is nearly a home run. Dubon pinch hits and walks. Guerra walks in Yaz – Giants have the lead. Dickerson walks, another run scores. Solano fielders choice, but a run scores. Belt drives in Yaz. Longoria flies out but Calhoun has a strong throw-in and Solano can’t score. Flores pops out.
Score: Giants 5, Diamondbacks 1
🚨JOEY BART IS AN ANIMAL🚨
💥Bart just smashed his 3rd third double! #SFgiants should be EXCITED about this guy!
Kevin Cron (brother of CJ Cron who is currently injured with the Detroit Tigers) flies out. Carson Kelly grounds out weakly to Belt at first. Calhoun grounds out.
Bottom 8th
Crawford strikes out but Bart raches via his 2nd hit by pitch of his career. Dubon grounds out but Bart hustles to second. Yaz pops out.
RECAP: Anderson looked like an ace (9 IP, 0 ER) while the ARI pitching staff walked 8 batters. Yaz made a STELLAR catch while Bart was inches away from his 1st HR – instead he settles for a 2B & HBP
