Tweet Journal: Angels vs Giants (8/19)

Giants Roster Moves

  • Before today’s game, the San Francisco Giants announced a series of roster moves. Andrew Triggs allowed 3 earned runs against only 1 out in his only appearance for the Giants- and he is now a member of the Boston Red Sox. He officially leaves the organization having an 81.00 ERA with 3 walks on 0.1 IP.

Today’s Lineup:

  • Flores over Belt at first, Ruf in at left field and Crawford is starting vs a left handed pitcher.

Eva(n) Longoria

  • hahahahaha
  • Evan Longoria took to Twitter after being mistakenly tagged as the actress Eva Longoria in a tweet about the Democratic Convention.

Press Box Dining: Review

  • Today’s meal was a Lemon-Rosemary Grilled Chicken with a side of Antipasti Salad. I chose the assorted candy as my dessert.
  • The chicken was standard if not a little dry, with the abundance of mostly mushy rice not helping. The salad was too bitter for my liking while the cucumber and salami were the only enjoyable part. The overall rating for today’s meal would be closer to 6.5 if it wasn’t for the assorted candy. It was a little heavy on the sour candies (BOTH sour gummy worms and rollable sour gummy “string”), but they were tasty with the white chocolate covered pretzels providing a diverse consistency. The Whooper-esq chocolate balls really made the meal, but there were too few of them (only 3) despite them being a highlight.
  • Rating: 7/10

Game Notes

  • Top 1st – RHP Johnny Cueto Pitching
    • Fletcher slaps a ground ball single against the shift. La Stella flies out to Ruf in left field, Trout flies out to center and Rendon strikes out – damage avoided
    • Score: Giants 0, Angels 0
  • Bottom 1st – LHP Patrick Sandoval Pitching
    • Slater rips a hanging 83 mph slider for a single. Solano pops out after getting into a quick 0-2 hole. Yaz flies out. Longoria slaps a line drive to right field (probably should have been caught by Goodwin) but it’s a hit and Slater advances to third. Flores flies out to Goodwin.
  • Top 2nd
    • Ohtani battles but rolls over and Pujols/Castro K.
  • Bottom 2nd
    • Pence and Ruf fly out to Goodwin in RF. Crawford walks, but Tromp also flies out to Goodwin and ends the inning.
    • Ruf is hitting .333 in night games this season
  • Top 3rd
    • Upton 5-3 ground out. Goodwin strikes out. Fletcher turns on a low and inside 83 mph pitch for a double off the wall. Cueto walks La Stella (two men on now) and this could be trouble with Trout coming to the plate. Trout flies out in a long AB, damage avoided.
  • Bottom 3rd
    • Slater walks. Solano hits a deep fly ball to center, but Trout is there to haul it in. Yaz goes down on strikes. Longoria hits a hard grounder to third, but it bounces off Rendon’s glove and, while SS David Fletcher tries to recover the ball, Slater dances to third. Flores battles to a 3-2 count and hits a dinger. Hunter Pence grounds out to end the inning
    • Score: Giants 3, Angels 0
  • Top 4th
    • Ruf grounds out. Crawford doubles off the wall. Tromp flies out and Crawford DOES NOT advance. It doesn’t matter as Slater goes ding dong to left field. Solano Flies out to Brian Goodwin in right
